In his opening address, Mr. Moeen Barghouti, valued the cooperation between the Institute of Law and the Palestinian Bar Association in several areas, aiming to develop and enhance lawyers’ skills in order to contextualize the different layers of the complex Palestinian legal system, through training and continuing legal education. He also presented the idea of ​​the project and its objectives, phases, target groups and partners from official institutions and civil society institutions. He pointed out that today's session will focus on topics of interest to lawyers in their practice, especially in terms of focusing on the analysis of practical issues and legislation from a gender perspective, such as penalty law, punitive measures, personal status law and labor law. This course is the first of (3) courses, targeting lawyers in all governorates of the West Bank, in addition to two courses, targeting lawyers and law students in the Gaza Strip universities.

 

The duration of this course is (5) days starting 16 – 20 July 2011, in which (30) female and male lawyers from Jerusalem, Ramallah and Jericho are participating.
